Demonstration Projects

NEW - Call for 2011 Project Concepts

We are planning for 2011 coordination projects, and your organization could be involved. Proposals are due April 16. See the Call for Projects for more information.

The following demonstration projects will commence during the 2010 Fiscal Year:

Mobility Management Center

This project will assist the City and County of Honolulu in achieving the top priority of the Human Services Transportation Coordination Plan to Get Coordinated by establishing a Mobility Management Center. A Mobility Management Center can provide a variety of services and functions to facilitate transportation coordination. In the short term, the role of the Mobility Management Center will be to manage grants for coordination projects, oversee implementation of projects in the Plan, and facilitate information sharing to connect people with the most appropriate transportation options available to them. The consultant team of Innovative Paradigms and FLT Consulting, Inc. will serve in the Mobility Management capacity during the initial implementation of the Plan

Local Shuttle Service

This project, part of the second priority goal area to "Get Connected," will expand upon the Kalaeloa Shuttle service to more effectively connect people living and/or working in the Kalaeloa/Kapolei area with job opportunities, especially in the Campbell Industrial Park. Hawaii Helping the Hungry Have Hope (H-5) will operate the service.

Agency-Provided Trips

For this project, part of the third priority goal area to "Get Compliant," trips to day programs administered by Goodwill Industries that were originally provided by TheHandi-Van will be provided by Goodwill. The goal of this project is to improve service for ADA-eligible riders accessing Goodwill programs, reduce the overall cost per trip, and make TheHandi-Van more available for demand-response trips.

See 2009-2010 Coordination Projects for cost and funding information.
